The Ascent™ standing seam walkway is designed to create a safe, anti-slip walking surface for access across sloping roofs, while helping to protect both the user and the roof covering from damage caused by regular foot traffic.
Engineered as a versatile modular system, the walkway can be configured to suit standing seam roofs with 305 mm, 400 mm or 500 mm seam centres.
The Ascent™ walkway is approved for use with the Kalzip standing seam roofing system. It is manufactured in accordance with applicable CE marking requirements and tested to BS EN 516:2006 Class 1 Type C, BS EN ISO 14122-2 and BS EN ISO 14122-3:2016.
The system can also be installed on traditional standing seam roofs, including lead and zinc roofing systems. By creating a defined access route, the walkway helps minimise unnecessary foot traffic on the roof covering and can contribute to prolonging its service life.
The Ascent™ walkway can be installed in several configurations to accommodate different roof slopes and access requirements. It can be laid directly to the roof pitch, levelled when traversing a slope, or configured as steps for ascending and descending steeper roof slopes.
When installed up or down a roof slope, the walkway can be used at inclines of up to 10° without additional anti-slip ribs and up to 20° with anti-slip ribs.
When traversing a roof slope, the walkway can be installed directly on slopes of up to 3°. For steeper gradients, the Ascent™ standard levelling kit allows a level walking surface to be created on roof slopes of up to 45°.
Where access is required up or down a roof slope greater than 20°, the walkway can be configured as steps using the Ascent™ standard step fixing kit.
The Ascent™ walkway can be secured to standing seams using a range of proprietary fixing clamps designed to maintain the integrity of the roof covering without unnecessary penetration.
Where additional edge protection is required, the walkway can be supplied with an integral aluminium handrail system fitted to one or both sides. Toe boards can also be incorporated where required.
The Ascent™ aluminium handrail is a modular system designed to integrate with the walkway, providing a complete access and edge protection solution tailored to the roof layout and site requirements.
All our products are manufactured in accordance with BS EN ISO 3834-2:2021 and BS EN 1090-1:2009+A1:2011 and carry the CE / UKCA Marking.
