Melton Mowbray Station

Melton Mowbray Station

Melton Mowbray Railway Station opened in 1846 and is owned by Network Rail and operated by East Midlands Railway. It forms part of the Birmingham to Peterborough Line.

As part of a scheme of recent improvements Fall Protection specialists Gravity Solutions were appointed to create a safe access scheme of works. As part of this scheme Gravity specified the Ascent Aluminium walkway roof step system

Gravity specified the Ascent Aluminium walkway and roof step system to create a level, free-draining, anti-slip walkway surface for maintenance personnel.

Where the walkway ascends / descends the roof-slope it is stepped throughout its length and has guardrail to both sides to afford additional protection to the end user. The walkway is affixed to the roof sheet using proprietary self-drill fixing screws complete with self-sealing weather-tight washer. The arrangement allows the walkway to be affixed to the building without the need for large-scale penetrations and sub-sequent weather proofing.

The Ascent walkway was installed by Gravity Solutions personnel in accordance with the provided comprehensive install guidelines. The walkway is designed & tested in accordance with EN 516;2006 and BS EN 14122- 2 &3 :2016 and manufactured at our Sheffield premises to CE / UKCA standards in accordance with BS EN 1090 manufacturing procedures.

Manufactured from 6082-T6 structural grade aluminium the Ascent aluminium walkway is 100% re-cyclable protecting both the maintenance personnel who use the walkway now and future generations who may wish to re-purpose it at the end of its working life.
