Glossop Market Hall

Glossop Market Hall

The Client:

Glossop is a former mill town known as the “Gateway to the Peak District” for Manchester.

The town specialised in the production of calico in the late 18th century.

The wealth of prominent historic buildings within the town relate to this period of prosperity.

One such interesting Gritstone building is the market hall.

The Challenge:

Maintenance personnel required a walkway to provide a level, anti-slip, free-draining surface around the roof for planned preventative maintenance work.

The Solution:

The Ascent™ Aluminium Walkway was installed complete with guardrail to its outer edge.

The walkway was levelled and placed upon cantilevered support arms above the slate roof, to allow end users to access the valley gutters beneath.

Ascent™ Aluminium Walkways are designed and tested in compliance with EN 516;2006 and BS EN 14122- 2 &3 :2016 and manufactured at our Sheffield premises to CE / UKCA standards in accordance with BS EN 1090 manufacturing procedures.

Manufactured from 6082-T6 structural grade aluminium, Ascent™ Aluminium Walkways are 100% recyclable, protecting both the maintenance personnel who use the walkway now and future generations who may wish to re-purpose it at the end of its working life.
