The Project
Working with a customer in South Yorkshire, working at height specialist Eurosafe identified the need for a safe, permanent means of accessing the building’s rooftop through an existing roof hatch.
The access solution needed to allow maintenance personnel to safely ascend and descend between the internal building level and the roof.
The Requirements
An Ascent™ Fixed Access Ladder was specified to provide permanent access through the roof hatch.
To provide additional protection for users while climbing, the ladder was fitted with a vertical rail-based fall protection system, allowing appropriately equipped users to remain connected while ascending and descending the ladder.
Safe transition through the roof hatch was also an important consideration, particularly where users move from the ladder onto the rooftop and vice versa.
The Solution
The Ascent™ Fixed Access Ladder was supplied with a ladder-up post at the head of the ladder. The post provides an additional handhold above the access point, helping users maintain stability while transitioning through the roof hatch.
Combined with the vertical rail-based fall protection system, the completed installation provides a comprehensive access arrangement designed around the specific requirements of the building and its maintenance personnel.
The ladder was installed by Eurosafe in accordance with the comprehensive installation guidance provided by Safety Fabrications.
Designed for Safe Rooftop Access
The Ascent™ Fixed Access Ladder system is designed and tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 14122-4:2016 and manufactured at Safety Fabrications’ Sheffield facility under controlled factory production procedures.
Ascent™ ladder systems can be configured with a range of additional access and safety features to suit individual site conditions, providing a robust and adaptable solution for permanent rooftop access.
