The Project
As part of the development of a specialist training centre in Sheffield, a safe and practical means of access was required to a mezzanine floor used for controlled rescue training and personnel rescue exercises.
The mezzanine forms an integral part of the practical training environment, with groups of delegates regularly accessing the area during training sessions.
The Requirements
With trainees frequently ascending and descending between floor levels, the access solution needed to accommodate regular use while providing a secure and comfortable route to and from the mezzanine.
A permanent stair system was therefore specified as part of the training centre design, providing a more practical means of access for groups of delegates carrying out exercises within the facility.
The Solution
An Ascent™ Stair Unit was specified to provide safe access between the main training area and the mezzanine floor.
The stair unit incorporates anti-slip nosings to the treads to provide additional grip underfoot and was supplied in kit form, simplifying transportation and installation within the training centre.
The modular design of the Ascent™ system allowed the stair configuration to be integrated into the training environment while providing a robust, permanent access solution suitable for frequent use by training delegates.
Designed for Safe Access
The Ascent™ Stair Unit is designed with reference to applicable access and building safety requirements and manufactured at Safety Fabrications’ Sheffield facility under controlled factory production procedures.
Designed for versatility, Ascent™ stair systems can be configured to provide permanent access to mezzanines, raised platforms, plant areas and other elevated working areas across a wide range of commercial and industrial environments.
