Quiz Night for Construction Contractors at Building Live 2018

Quiz Night for Construction Contractors at Building Live 2018

25th October 2018

Next month’s construction industry event, Building Live 2018, will be adding some fun to the occasion with the first ever Building Quiz.  Potential participants are being urged to “test your mettle” against the best in the construction business by fielding a team to compete in a general knowledge quiz against fellow construction professionals that’s been dubbed “Battle of the Professions”.

Building Live 2018 will take place on 28th November at 155 Bishopsgate in London and this year’s themes are managing risk, winning work, and digital change.  With the construction industry in the UK under pressure to make radical changes as we face Brexit, the opportunities brought about by change will be explored at this year’s event.  The event views the Hackitt Report as a chance for the sector to improve quality and produce a better, safer end product.  New developments in the industry, such as offsite manufacture (OSM), combined with digital technologies, will play an important role in improving efficiency whilst reducing risks.

As for winning work, Building Live encourages construction companies to hone their marketing skills to attract work and the event will be exploring themes which will include:

  • Everything’s Changing – offsite construction methods, new technologies, geo politics and people
  • Workload – meeting new clients, winning work and understanding the procurement process
  • Building Performance – best practice, learning opportunities and case studies
  • Regulation – lessons to be learned from the Grenfell Tower fire, the Hackitt Review and the collapse of Carillion.

Building Live 2018 will feature more than 60 expert speakers – industry leaders from different sub-sectors, who will be exploring the future of construction and encouraging informed debate on the challenges facing the built environment in the 21st Century.

The event promises a packed one-day programme with speakers covering the following topics:

  • Is there a future for the executive architect?
  • VR – From gimmick to game changer
  • The BD Live Crit
  • Creating public realm fit for the people
  • CNC:  Digitally designing and making in wood
  • Designing for offsite
  • 3D printing:  A quick fix?
  • Breaking into the big time – how to escape the domestic treadmill

There will be coffee and lunch breaks during the day which will provide delegates with a perfect networking opportunity to make new contacts and forge new business relationships for the future.  The event ends with “drinks and networking” at 5:30 pm, followed by an evening of entertainment.   The Building Quiz takes place at 7:30 pm with the winner expected to be announced at 9:30 pm.  This will be followed by a DJ and bar which will go on until the event ends at 11:30 pm.

This is a great opportunity to network with some of the senior decision makers in our industry, whilst also forging new business relationships with some of the movers and shakers in the world of main contractors, specialist contractors, consultants, engineers, architects, designers and surveyors.    If you think that your construction company can benefit from a visit to Building Live 2018, head over to the website to book your places now.
