Spillages should also be cleaned as soon as possible and warning signs be placed on strategic points to alert workers and visitors of potential slip, trip, and fall hazards.

Objects falling from shelves, rooftops, or dropped by another person can result in severe injuries. Head injury is a common result under this category. To prevent injuries from falling objects, workers’ diligence and employer’s focus on keeping the workplace safe from potential hazards are vital. Machine entanglement injuries are common where heavy machinery and equipment are used. Hair, piece of clothing, or fingers can get stuck in the machine or equipment, resulting in injuries. To prevent this type of workplace injury, all workers working on or near heavy machinery should always wear the proper protective gear and cut or pull back long hair or clothing that could lead to injury.

For instance, if you use the computer and type for long hours every day, muscle and tendon strains could occur, which can lead to back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and vision problems. You need to provide your workers with proper training on proper ergonomics to help avoid or minimise the incidents mentioned above.

Some workplaces, especially those dealing with chemicals could contain hazardous substances in the form of fumes, dust, mists, vapours and gases. If workers working in such an environment lack proper protection, they may be at risk of skin or eye reactions, breathing problems, and other potentially serious injuries. Therefore, all employers in such workplaces must provide workers with proper safety gear, including fitted face masks and goggles to prevent them from dangerous exposure.
