Kee-klamps – Some of the Key Components in our Safe Access Solutions

31st July 2018

Here at Safety Fabrications, we take safety seriously – after all, we’re a leading manufacturer of safe access equipment for a range of industry sectors in Britain.  We manufacture a comprehensive variety of fall protection and access products, which include steps, stairs and walkways.  This has led to the use of a large number of tube and fittings in our products and we’ve come to the conclusion that the Kee-klamp range is the most versatile and highest quality on today’s market.  As such, we’re an approved Kee-klamp distributor and our stock contains a range of both tube and fittings.

The Kee-klamp system was developed back in 1943 by George Gascoigne and a team and designed to meet the needs of the agricultural industry in making cows’ milking stalls.  It was originally market as a cattle control system and advertised to industrial chemists in the 1950s.  In the 1960, the Kee-klamp system began to be used in storage systems in factories.

The system is made up from unthreaded cast iron or aluminium structural tubing and slip-on structural pipe fittings.  The galvanised fittings are resistant to corrosion and can be secured to the tubes using set screws and a hex key.  While some cutting or bending of the tubes may be required during the installation process, there is no need for skilled labourers such as welders and the system is very simple to install.  Kee-klamp components are typically used in guard rails, shelving, market stalls, cattle penning and other types of railings.

Here at Safety Fabrications, we choose to use Kee-klamp components on many of our products as they are so versatile and of such great quality – an important issue when it comes to safety.  Only the best and strongest will be acceptable on safe access solutions.  Our safety barriers feature Kee-klamp cast iron tubular fittings as we feel these represent ideal components for the construction of safety railings, handrails, guardrails and barriers of all types.

Some of our safety railings and handrails features the lighter weight Kee-Lite aluminium components while Kee Access fittings are used to create the smooth surface hand railings and ensure that they comply with UK disability legislation and Building Regulations Part M.

The construction industry remains one of the biggest culprit when it comes to fatalities and serious injuries in the workplace.  Legislation is constantly updated to take account of new developments in a bid to reduce accidents and incidents which is why Britain is one of the safest countries in the world in which to work.

When it comes to safety, we insist on the best materials and products to ensure that we offer our customers a safe access solution they can rely on, not just for safety, but to guarantee compliance with health and safety legislation too.  Access and fall protection products need to be manufactured to provide users with a solution they can rely on, which is why Kee-Klamps are the obvious choice for us.
