Construction News Summit 2015

Construction News Summit 2015

10th August 2015

The Construction News Summit is the British construction industry’s largest gathering of politicians, public and private sector clients, investors, main contractors and supply chain leaders. It’s a brilliant opportunity for them to discuss the outlook for the next parliament and have a say on what will be done to stimulate growth in the UK construction industry and what the outlook is for both public and private sector project pipelines.

The event will be held at Central Hall Westminster in London on the 3rd and 4th of November 2015. Those who book before 18th September will save £50 on your reservation. There will be a pre-summit workshop held on 3rd November which will include discussions on how new technology is likely to impact project delivery in the future.

As we never tire of saying here, attending industry conferences and events of this type is a great way of boosting your career options. You’ll get a great competitive insight and advantage in key sectors and it’s a fab opportunity to hook up with clients, developers and contractors. Last year’s Construction News Summit was attended by more than 300 industry players, 72% of whom are at director level or above. A massive 43% of the attendees were from clients and main contractors while 16 of the UK’s top 20 contractors were on the premises. On the government front, three front bench politicians attended in order to outline their parties’ spending priorities ahead of the latest general election.

The Construction News Summit will be hosted by BBC journalist Andrew Neill and will feature a keynote address from Patrick Mcloughlin, the UK Transport Secretary. The event promises to provide a great opportunity to hear from the leaders of the new government as they outline their plans for the construction industry in the coming years and how these plans are likely to affect both the public and the private sector.

The summit will explore political, economic and industry issues and take an in-depth look at clients and projects, including Anglian Water, the Francis Crick Institute, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon and North West Cambridge Development. The key themes for this year’s Summit include:

  • Project pipelines
  • Project delivery
  • Regional procurement
  • The skills shortage in the construction industry
  • Innovation
  • The macroeconomic outlook

Key decision makers in the construction industry will be in attendance and some of the speakers already confirmed include:
