Ascent™ Stairs

At Safety Fabrications, our up and over stair and step units are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 5395:Part 3 and are specifically designed to comply with Health & Safety requirements. 

In line with BS EN 5395:Part 3, staircases and step units should be used when your access requirement dictates that the angle of access ranges from 30-50° in pitch.

Safety Fabrications has provided a range of fabricated staircases for the following applications: 
 - Access staircases
 - Fire Escapes
 - Up-and-over stair units
-  Rooftop access step units

Our staircases, up and over stair and step units are typically manufactured in galvanised mild steel or aluminium, all of which can be paint powder coated to an agreed RAL colour. This serves to give our up and over stair units an aesthetically pleasing finish.  
Ascent Up and Over Stair
All handrail affixed to the platforms is designed to offer safety without restricting practical usage of the platform. The inclusion of “kick plates” around the platform stops equipment from being accidentally knocked off and therefore creating a hazard for those underneath. 

We offer our staircases in the following forms:
 - Fixed
 - Freestanding

Our vast array of fixed up and over stair units can be typically fixed at the top platform, base and, when applicable, at any intermediate landing platforms. 

Whilst the product will be bespoke to your requirements you can rest assured that it will be manufactured under the strict quality controls as all our Ascent products; in accordance with BS EN ISO 3834-2:2005 and BS EN 1090-2:2008 and will be classified as CE marked fabrications. Thus, allowing you to meet the requirements of the Construction Product Regulations. (CPR)

What We Do

Wherever roof access is required, designers are tasked with creating a safe route to and from the place of work. Following the hierarchy of safety collective protection measures should always be considered above individual fall protection solutions.

D-marc is classed as a form of Collective Demarcation Protection in accordance with the HSE's hierarchy of risk management as set out within the Working at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR). The WAHR 2005 Part 3 illustrates the use of a demarcation system as an "example of taking other additional suitable and sufficient measures to prevent a fall''. The demarcation system is to be placed a safe distance from the fall hazard (normally >2m). Health and Safety Roofwork HSG33 states that "where work is not done at the edge, demarcation barriers can be provided at a safe distance from the edge (usually at least 2 metres). e.g. work on an air-conditioning unit in the middle of a roof."
